Kansas had a chance to become the first franchise in Super Bowl history to win three NFL titles in a row, but Philadelphia said no, surprisingly thrashing the superstar Patrick Mahomes and his crew- 40-22

This morning in New Orleans, the history was prevented! The three-time Super Bowl winner and MVP, Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs, were one step from becoming the first-ever franchise in Super Bowl history (since 1969.) to win three consecutive titles. However, the 29-year-old was crushed by the Philadelphia Eagles' sturdy defence, as the team from Pennsylvania claimed their second Vince Lombardi Trophy after 2017 and the generation led by Nick Foles - 40-22.

Unlike numerous previous Super Bowls, the winner of the 59th edition of the NFL trophy game was known already at the half-time show, as the Eagles were up 24-0. Nick Sirianni's men (especially their defence) imposed their dominance from the beginning, taking a 10-0 lead midway through the second period.

At that point, Mahomes threw an interception (after 298 passes without one), leading to Cooper DeJean's touchdown for the unbelievable 17-0 Philadelphia advantage. The Chiefs quarterback had previously been sacked twice, as the Eagles' defensive line completely anaesthetized his impact.

All that put Mahomes in an unprecedented situation, which he didn't know how to handle, as he threw another interception in the very next Chiefs' attack. Eagles got the ball close to the end zone and accepted the gift, scoring another touchdown before the break - 24-0.

After Kendrick Lamar's half-time show, Mahomes' struggles continued, as he failed to convert a fourth down and lost another ball (this time due to a fumble), while the Eagles got a smashing 34-0 advantage. By the end of the game, the Chiefs managed to slightly soften the blow and close the gap to an 18-point difference - 40-22.

In the end, the Eagles deservedly claimed the Vince Lombardi Trophy, while their quarterback Jalen Hurts was named the Super Bowl MVP, finishing the game with two touchdown passes and one scored TD.

Kansas will have seven months to reorganize their squad and build another title-worthy team around Mahomes, while the entire Pennsylvania will spend days and weeks celebrating the title their favourites brought them from New Orleans.
